Gustave Doré

Art direction for 'Fantastique', the first retrospective book covering the entirety of Gustave Doré work. « Fantastique » needed to convey the depth of his universe to both Doré’s enthusiasts and neophytes.
But, can you really « summarize » 3,000 artworks in one book?

We explored 5 main supports: structure, book fabrication, cover artwork, texts and images. This project has been awarded with Gold at the 101st Art Director’s Club global awards, in the editorial design category.
